Anne Nelson

Anne Nelson is a prize-winning author and lecturer, and a research scholar at the Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies at Columbia University. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for her 2009 book Red Orchestra: The Berlin Underground and the Circle of Friends Who Resisted Hitler, which was named Editors Choice by the New York Times Book Review and published in four languages. Her subsequent book, Suzanne's Children: A Daring Rescue in Nazi Paris, was a finalist for the Jewish Book Award. Nelson has worked extensively in the fields of international human rights and freedom of expression. She is a graduate of Yale University and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the New York Institute of the Humanities. She is a frequent contributor to the Washington Spectator and the Times Literary Supplement.
